Mac: OS X Dock Space

Posted on September 24, 2012

If your OCD about your OSX Dock, you may be interested in having space between groups of apps. In Terminal type (as always, without quotes):

Left side:
“defaults write persistent-apps -array-add ‘{“tile-type”=”spacer-tile”;}’ ;killall Dock”

Right side:
“defaults write persistent-others -array-add ‘{tile-data={}; tile-type=”spacer-tile”;}’ ;killall Dock”

If you want multiple spaces just enter it again.

The space can be rearranged like any app, and removed by dragging it above the dock and letting go.
